3D Imaging

When: 2025/04/23

Where: SwissCollNet (Swiss Academy of Sciences)

What: Our specimen of the synthetic fly (Drosophila synthetica)—the first animal species artificially “created” through genetic modification—was featured in a SwissCollNet article on 3D digitization of type specimens in natural history collections: 3D Imaging for Studying Without Touching.

➔ Scanned by Christian Felsner at the ETH Zurich Entomological Collection, it is now among the remarkable specimens available as a 3D model. You can view it by clicking here.
